Summary Administration

While the loss of a spouse, parent, family member or friend is a time of sadness and adjustment, it also can be a challenging time to wind down the decedent’s outstanding life issues.  Our attorneys can provide assistance in this wind down process. Under Florida law one method of winding down a decedent’s legal issues is called a Summary Administration.  This type of legal proceeding is used to transfer assets to the identified heirs and resolve creditors issues of the decedent.  A Summary proceeding is a condensed proceeding which is shorter in time and with less costs than a formal probate proceeding. Generally, it is used in cases where the value of the decedent’s estate is under $75,000 or the decedent has been dead for more than two years.  Our attorneys can assist you in determining if the Summary Administration is applicable to your case and also provide legal services to secure the required Summary Administration Court Orders to transfer the decedent’s assets to his or her lawful heirs.
